No Stop Signs - Urban Design

This was an urban design with no stop signs or stoplights. Each street gently undulates along its axis (in this original drawing, streets run diagonally, northwest/southeast and southwest/northeast, instead of in traditional east/west and north/south directions). Click here to see 45 degree rotation of drawing. Traffic diverges and merges at every intersection. Street signs at the small intersection circles would show street names for diverging traffic. Two streets briefly share the same roadway until they diverge from each other. In some cases, a driver may need to circle the block to reach a particular address, however there is no on-coming traffic to contend with. (Filed about 1964)
